Prolific Nigerian forward Kalu Uche has penned a fresh contract with two-time ISL champions ATK, which will see him become one of the highest paid players in the league.

The Aba-born striker had signed for the Delhi Dynamos in 2017 for a $129,999 fee and his stellar run of form in the recently-concluded 2017/18 season has influence a higher pay for his services in ATK colours.

Now, Uche is set to join ATK in a mega-deal, that will see him become one of the highest paid players in the ISL, Sportskeeda has learnt.

Uche, one of the ISL's most prominent strikers enjoyed a purple patch of his own during the recently-concluded season, wherein he netted the ball on 13 occasions from 15 games, but unfortunately for the ex-Sevilla forward, Delhi Dynamos did not have the best of seasons as they finished eight on the table.

Having donned the Espanyol colours early on in his career, Uche represented the Spain-based club for the whole of the 2012 season, where he scored six goals in 15 matches. ATK player-manager Robbie Keane will hope that Uche combines with him and Njazi Kuqi to revive the fortunes of the club.

The club, which finished ninth on the table with just four wins and as many draws from 18 games will hope that the Nigerian striker's addition will revive their chances in the upcoming season.

The 35-year-old has loads of experience under his belt with 35 international appearances since his debut in 2003, apart from long stints at Almeria (2005-2011) and Polish football club Wisla Krakow.

Uche has already plied his trade for two ISL teams, FC Pune City in 2015 and Delhi Dynamos in 2017, and ATK will be the third Indian side he will represent in the league.
