ISL: Delhi Dynamos vs Kerala Blasters – What we can expect – Preview and Prediction

The focus will shift to the capital on Sunday when a desperate Delhi Dyanamos side host Trevor Morgan’s Kerala Blasters. The host sit on the bottom of the league table after their embarrasing 4-1 defeat against F.C Goa while the visitors are not much higher on the 6 place with 8 points from their 8 matches.

Harm Van Veldhoven has expressed his disappointment with respect to his players’ reaction to pressure in the last match and knows that a failure to win this one might just be curtains for his side’s goal of a top 4 finish. Similarly,Trevor Morgan will know that after their 3 game unbeaten streak, 3 points in Delhi will put them right in the contention for the semi finals, as well.

Venue And Kick-Off

Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium is likely to witness a drop in the attendance considering the home team’s record. Attendance at the venue has been discouragin, except for the NorthEast United F.C game and is reducing by each passing game.

The Kick Off is at 7pm on Sunday.

Probable Line-Ups And Form Guide

The manager of the home team will be back on the touchline after serving his ban in the previous game. The Dutch-Belgian manager HAS to get it spot on this time. Del Piero is likely to start considering his absence from the last one and so will Junker in the attack. The combination of Shylo and Steven Dias on the two wings has proven to be the most deadly till now and he will keep that in mind.

Trevor Morgan knows that Delhi Dynamos will try to attack right from the start and will play his team accordingly. Ian Hume has done well for him as a forward and Kerala Blasters will look to him for inspiration in the attacking third. Penn will try and dominate the Delhi midfield who are under immense pressure for this one.

Delhi Dynamos are winless in their last five games and have won only 1 game out of the 8 played till now while the Kochi based side have won 2, drawn 2 and lost 1 from theirs.

Key Battles

Junker vs Falvey

This will be an interesting battle when Delhi Dynamos reach the final third as Junker will try to get the better of the 29-year-old Irish centre back. Del Piero and Steven Dias are the most likely teammates to provide the Danish forward with a goal scoring assist, and this individual contest will decide the final conversion- the only thing which counts.

Iain Hume vs Wim Raymaekers

On the other side of the field, the Canadian will look to knick past Wim Raymaekers on the counter attack. The previous meeting between the two which ended goal-less is only a testament to both the team’s tight defences but on a night like this, something will have to give.

Prediction

Delhi Dynamos F.C 1:1 Kerala Blasters F.C
