Keventer Cup for Girls: La Martiniere for Girls inaugural champions!

La Martiniere for Girls defeated Future Hope 1-0 in the final of the Keventer Cup for Girls at their own La Martiniere grounds to become the champions of the first-ever football tournament for girls to be held in Kolkata.The all important winner was scored by Pari Tochhawng to give the La Martiniere for Girls the title. Rhea Rao walked away with the most valuable player of the tournament trophy while Sutrishna Moyra was given the player of the final award.

The prizes and awards were given away by Shanti Mallick, a former India women’s international and Arjuna Awardee, along with actress June Malia.

The 2013 edition of the Debanjan Sen Foundation organized Keventer Cup for schools saw a premiere with for the first-time a girls event being held over the last couple of days with the following eight schools – Assembly of God Church School, The Heritage School, La Martiniere for Girls, Modern High School, Loreto House, Sushila Birla, Julien Day – Elgin, and Future Hope – taking part.

The tournament was a five a-side affair and was played in a league-cum-knockout basis.
