Liverpool International Football Academy – DSK Shivajians is all set to kick start the Talent Scouting to form the squad for its second year, with the first leg of the campaign in Goa. The scouting to identify promising young football talent scheduled on 12th, 13th and 15th of February 2015, will be conducted by the Head Coach Dave Rogers and Academy Coach Michael Rice.
The second edition of the trials is aimed at short-listing the best players to form two groups of Under-19 (Born on or between 1st Jan 1997 and 31st December 1998) and Under-17 (Born on or between 1st Jan 1999 and 31st December 2000), respectively. The shortlisted players will participate in final round in Pune, following which the squad for the second year of the Academy will be selected.
Shirish Kulkarni, President of the Liverpool International Football Academy – DSK Shivajians, said, “Last year we had over 3000 budding footballers who attended the trials across the country. The response was overwhelming.
“However, we have maintained that momentum throughout the year, with number of queries over the past few months. We have had about 2500 online registrations over the past few months, which ensure that we will see a good turnout in Goa. On the other hand, we want to ensure that we pick the right players, who are not only talented, but also hard working and committed.”
Dave Rogers, Head Coach of the Liverpool International Football Academy – DSK Shivajians, said, “It has been known for quite some time that Goa is a hot-bed for footballing talent in India. We are hoping that we can spot some players who are not just talented, but also have the right attitudes and are committed to the cause. When these players take the field for trials, we want them to be able to express themselves and show what they can do.”

The players who will attend the trials will go through a series of on-field challenges. We want them to show the core values, which are essential to become a full-time professional footballer. Dave and I have a task at hand to choose the best players, who will go on to represent the Liverpool International Football Academy – DSK Shivajians.”
