Some of the best players in Liverpool’s history could be heading to India next month for an exhibition match, according to a TOI report.

Liverpool legends Ian Rush, John Barnes, Robbie Fowler, Dietmar Hamann, Steve McManaman, Patrick Berger, Vladimir Smicer and Bruce Grobbelaar could be in action in New Delhi or Mumbai next month to take on a team of Bollywood stars and former Indian footballers.

Legendary manager and striker Kenny Dalglish could be the manager of this assembled team of Liverpool greats. There is also a possibility of 2001 Ballon d’Or winner Michael Owen and Euro 2004 Golden Boot winner Milan Baros playing for the Reds in this match.

The Liverpool legends team are often seen playing in such exhibition matches and tournaments around the world. The side is put together by former Reds player Barry Venison.

“I am very excited to bring such a strong Liverpool squad to play in this groundbreaking game in India. It's the first of its kind and the buzz around this game speaks volumes for the Indian public’s love of football and top class entertainment. This will be a memorable event,” Venison was quoted saying.

The Indian contingent for this unique match could comprise of former India captains Bhaichung Bhutia, IM Vijayan and Bruno Coutinho along with Bollywood stars like Ranbir Kapoor and Abhishek Bachchan, both of whom co-own a franchise in the Indian Super League.
