Maldives requests to postpone SAFF Championship

Football Association of Maldives (FAM) had sent letter to South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) requesting the postponement of the SAFF Championship 2013. The SAFF Championship is scheduled to he held at Kathmandu, Nepal from September 1 – 11, 2013.

The reason of the request being that the championship date conflicts with the Presidential elections in Maldives and the date also conflicts with the Maldives Club New Radiant SC’s participation in the AFC CUP. SAFF is yet to react on the request of the FAM.

SAFF Championship is the biggest football event in South Asia. The official draw of the championship will be held at Kathmandu, Nepal on July 30, 2013.
