After a 9-0 win over Australian side BCN Australia, the Indian Colts crossed swords with Catalonian Youth Side CEF SP Vidrerence in the ongoing Mediterranean International Cup. The Colts ran out 4-0 winners against the Catalonian side.
MIC – Mediterranean International Cup is organised by AE MICFootball and in accordance with the regulations of the FIFA and the Spanish and Catalan Football Federation.
This youth football tournament is celebrating its 18th edition in the Costa Brava (North East Coast of Spain). The games are played in two halves of 25 minutes each in the tournament.
Coach Bibiano Fernandes dropped high flying Rohit Danu, who scored four goals in the last game. Vikram Pratap Singh, Ridge Demello and Thoiba Singh being the other scorers, started for India.
India dominated the proceedings early on as Givson Fernandes' shot went inches wide of the target in the 5th minute. Bekey got the next chance to put India ahead but his shot went wide as well. Ricky missed the target as well from close range in the 13th minute. The Catalonian side were defending deep and only relied on counter moves.
Givson Fernandes finally broke the deadlock to put India 1-0 ahead in the 16th minute.
In the second half as well, India were on song right from the outset and they created numerous good moves in a bid to increase the lead.
After noticing that the Colts are unable to break through the defense, Coach Fernandes replaced Vikram Pratap with Talisman Rohit Danu. Danu's presence on the field quickly resulted in an India goal after he managed to slot the ball home past an on-rushing keeper into an empty net.
Substitute Harpreet Singh, then, received a brilliant through ball from Danu and made it 3-0 for India. Singh scored his second, just at the stroke of full time to make it 4-0.
With this win, India top the group with 3 wins in 3 games. The Colts have scored 14 goals and conceding none so far as they advance to the Round of 32.
