Mizoram Premier League: Mizoram Police demolished FC Kulikawn!

It was raining goals in a rather poor match between Mizoram Police and FC Kulikawn on Thursday evening. Mizoram Police scored seven goals against bottom side FC Kulikawn. Police players Lalbiakhlua and Lalnunmawia scored a brace while V. Laltanpuia, F. Lalrinpuia and Lalfakzuala scored a goal each. Mizoram Police captain T-a was the man of the match.

Mizoram Police dominated the match right from the start whilst missing a number of chances early on courtesy of poor finishing from their forwards. Biaktea scored a brace, one of which was from the penalty spot, though he went on to miss two penalties in this match later. He missed many chances in this match but remained the leading goalscorer in the league with eight goals this season so far. Valpuia and substitute Nunmawia also missed a handful of chances. Police had more than thirty chances to score in this match and were successful on only seven occasions.

FC Kulikawn forwards were able to threaten Police defenders on several occasions but were not sharp enough take advantage of them when the chances came along. The gulf in class was clearly visible between the two teams, resulting in a match of low quality. The game however ended on a bad note as MPL Season 1′s best forward Valpuia had to be stretchered off at 79 minutes due to an injury.

Mizoram Police had hopes of reaching the final with them currently on 22 points, but with Dinthar FC winning 1-0 against Reitlang FC on Saturday it ended Mizoram Police’s hopes of reaching the title round. FC Kulikawn had a slim chance of surviving in the MPL, however even a win against Aizawl FC in the final round will not be enough if Reitlang FC get a single point from their remaining two matches.
