Aizawl FC and Dinthar FC played the ‘match of the tournament’ so far in a one-all draw at the Lammual playground in Aizawl in the first edition of the ‘Mahindra 2 Wheelers’ Mizoram Premier League. The champions of the old Mizoram first division league of last season Dinthar FC scored early in the 8th minute through Lalnunmawia with the former Indian junior international and Shillong Lajong FC winger Mawia heading in a beautiful centre from R. Laldanmawia.

After a hard fought battle in the midfield, the Second Division I-League team Aizawl FC equalised in the 38th minute through their captain B. Malsawmzuala. A product of the Mohun Bagan-SAIL Football Academy, Malsawmzuala finished off a beautiful move from the midfield, leaving the rival custodian with no chance.

Dinthar FC struck the woodwork twice in the second half and should have scored the winner in the dying minutes, however Zico Zoremsanga’s shot was brilliantly saved by Aizawl FC keeper Isaac.

The crowd support was large and loud with Dinthar FC having the lion’s share of the fans. Both the teams are undefeated with four points each from their two matches played so far.
