In a sudden twist of events, top Mohun Bagan officials Srinjoy Bose, the assistant general secretary, and Debasish Dutta, the finance secretary, have announced their resignation from the club in a press conference on Monday in Kolkata. Srinjoy Bose and Debasish Dutta played a pivotal role in the Mariners winning their first I-League title in 2015 and the Federation Cup 2016.

However, just days after the conclusion of the Hero I-League where Mohun Bagan finished third above their arch-rivals East Bengal, they have resigned citing differences among other members of the board.

Debasish Dutta addressed the media saying, "I and Srinjoy did not want to disturb the proceedings of the club midway through the season as we were struggling before the second leg of the derby. After the resignation of Head Coach Sanjoy Sen, we were in a tough situation which forced us to take the decision for the betterment of the club."

"We are facing an extreme amount of non-cooperation from our fellow officials and we have failed to take them into confidence regarding management issues. So, we are here to announce our resignation to not let the team suffer and provide ample amount of time for the club to recover and prepare for the Super Cup."

The duo also revealed that since McDowell's left as the main sponsor of Mohun Bagan, it has been very difficult to bring new sponsors on board. The duo also claimed that they tried their best to get other sponsors aboard and have been successful in doing so but on the contrary made a statement that due to the presence of other officials, several deals could not go through.

Srinjoy Bose, meanwhile, revealed that Bimal Magar who was brought in as a replacement has been released as he failed to impress the officials and they were in talks with a foreign defender a few days ago.

Dutta also addressed the media saying that in no situation they would reconsider their resignation.

Both Srinjoy Bose and Debasish Dutta had been pivotal in the club's success in last five years and it surely would trigger tense moments at their Maidan tent as the other members of the board would now ponder what to do next as both the officials were popular among the fans due to their dedication towards the club.
