Neymar Jr. of FC Barcelona and Brazil has teamed up with Red Bull to host a 5-a-side football tournament across the globe, called Neymar Jr’s Five. The tournament is making a stop in Bangalore on 5th November 2016 as teams battle it out for a chance to play in the India National Final to be held in Mumbai prior to the World Final in Brazil. Neymar Jr’s Five spans more than 50 countries and has been growing steadily since its inception in January 2016.

The tournament is based on the belief that footballers never earn their skills in big stadiums at big clubs. Their journey almost always begins on the streets, with their friends, like it did for Neymar Jr. In the streets, their main obstacles are not the opposing defenders but the hard gravel, sweltering heat and the blinding dust. The final task isn’t to beat the goalkeeper, but to disprove anything or anyone who tells you that you’ll remain in the street and not the stadium. But that’s how legends are made.

Most legends started out on a mere, obstacle-filled street, but turned the mere street into a path. A path to blinding success. Just ask Pele, Alfredo Di Stefano or Neymar Jr. Neymar Jr’s journey started with a street and a dream and continues with a stadium and a fairytale.

So how does it work?

While it is football, there is one twist – each time a team scores, the opposition loses a player. In other words, two FIVE-a-side teams will get TEN minutes to strut their stuff on the turf in a bid to impress Barcelona’s dazzling number ELEVEN – Neymar Jr & play against him and his friends. For each goal scored, a member of the conceding team will be asked to exit the field, making Neymar Jr’s Five an electrifying battle of wits, grit and adrenaline. At the end of 10 minutes, the last team standing or the team with more number of players still left in the field of play is the winner.

Teams from all over India are invited to try their hand (and legs) at a shot at the prize of prizes – the chance to represent India in Neymar Jr’s Five World Finals in Brazil in 2017. Can you outplay them all and pave your way to the world final in Brazil to represent your country?

Venue: Play Arena, Sarjapur Road.
