Manila, Nov 28 The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Competitions’ Committee on Friday decided to award the hosting rights of the 2016 AFC under 23 Championship to Qatar.
The 16-nation biennial competition, which has been launched as the AFC under 22 Championship, was renamed as the AFC under 23 Championship and serves as the qualifier for the Olympics, reports Xinhua.
Top three teams from the 2016 edition will represent Asia at the Rio 2016 Olympics.
