Reports: Steven Gerrard offered coaching role by Liverpool amid reports of homesickness

Gerrard is homesick

Liverpool have seen what Jurgen Klopp can do in a matter of 6 months. The motivational coach took Liverpool to the League Cup final and the Europa League final. Unfortunately for the Reds, they ended up on the losing side on both occasions.

But it shows what Klopp can do to a team that were underperforming before he arrived. Now fans can take encouragement from news coming in from the Mirror. Steven Gerrard is apparently homesick and is ready to cut short his time in the MLS and return to Liverpool.

Steven had signed a year and a half deal with American club LA Galaxy at the end of last season after his contract had run out with the Reds and when decided to make the switch. Despite already being halfway through that contract he is willing to cut short his time with the club.

Gerrard has scored 2 goals and notched up 3 assists with his new club this season but both him and his family are homesick and would want to come back to England as soon as possible.

It is also reported that Gerrard has been offered a coaching role at the club where he spent his whole life, which would make it all the more possible and simpler for the midfielder to make the move back to his home country.

I will return to Liverpool soon: Steven Gerrard

Gerrard had recently stated his desire to return to his hometown one day. “I will be going home at some point. I don’t want to start any unnecessary rumours. I’m really happy where I am at the moment. But I’m sure somewhere down the line I will represent Liverpool football club.”

“I miss my friends and my family. I miss a bit of cold weather. I miss going to the games. I spent 35 years in Liverpool. Liverpool’s my home, it always will be. This is my second home for a short period of time.”

Gerrard scored 120 goals in his 503 Premier League appearances and a further 65 in other competitions. A return to his old club proves to be a mouthwatering prospect and there is no doubt he will be a big help to Klopp.
