SK Amaze: Jeje Lalpekhlua's Superb Lob Against Pune City FC

Does Jeje deserve a move to a European Club?

Yesterday something absolutely fantastic happened at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune. After about 28 minutes of toil and labour, and after both teams (Chennaiyin FC being Pune City’s opponents in this match) each had a goal ruled out (rightfully so), Jeje from Hnahthial, Mizoram, decided to turn it up a notch. A defensive clearance from the promising young Indian Left Full Back Jerry, went over the Pune City FC defence and landed at the feet of the 25-year-old Lalpekhlua, who had Centre Back Eduardo Ferreira giving him close company.

But the ever unflappable Jeje was not to be deterred. His first touch was an Andy Caroll-esque shoulder bring-down which wrong-footed Ferreira completed and let the ball fall into space, and then Jeje decided to have his own Cantona moment, as he lobbed the ball from about 24-yards away over the hapless Edel Bete, who ended up looking like a live action version of the Flappy Bird game.

And it’s not like this was the first time that Jeje’s pulled something glorious out of the bag. The Chennaiyin FC Striker has made a habit of scoring outrageous goals throughout his career, whether it be for Pune FC, Mohun Bagan FC or Pune City FC. In fact, there are a few YouTube compilations of the Striker that are worth the time.

For the time being, check out the wonder goal we have tried our best to describe here:

The man is humble to boot. In a recent exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, the Indian superstar attributed his success to his family. “Whatever sport I played, they supported me and because of them, I am here.”

What a top, top, top lad. No wonder European clubs have been interested in him in the past. Maybe this moment in the sun is what will get him that move to a European club because this particular moment of pure magic from Jeje deserves its moment in the spotlight. It deserves an #SKAmaze tag.
