Soccer for Child Rights Tournament to kick off in Chennai on 24 January

Chennai gears up for a unique football tournament where talented youngsters from the Vyasarpadi Slums will battle it out with the big wig corporate teams, all for the sake of Child Rights. All thanks to Child Rights and You (CRY)’s Soccer for Child Rights.

The one day event will unveil on 24 January, the National Day for the Girl Child, and will see 9 corporate teams including HDFC Bank, Vodafone, Trends-in-Vogue, Wabag, Ford, Technip, Ramco Systems, Infosys and Inautix participate in the 35 min (7 players, one side) shorter format version of the beautiful game at the YMCA grounds, Nandanam in Chennai.

A CRY partner since 2006, SCSTEDS focuses on enhancing participation of children and youth and their development of the Vysarpadi Slum. Thus far, the team has created and strengthened pressure groups in order to ensure improved government services to the people, with a continued focus on issues of minimum wages, social security cover for unorganized sector workers, housing rights and discrimination.
