Subroto Cup: Club Atletico Paraneanse and SAI U-17 Boys make strong claims

Club Atletico Paraneanse from Brazil thrashed Indonesia’s Jalan Harsono RM Komplek 4-0 for their second successive win staking their strong claim to a quarterfinal spot in pool G even as Central Coast Mariners FC from Australia beat Delhi Dynamos FC 2-0 in the ongoing the 57th Subroto Cup International Football Tournament, being played at the Dr. Ambedkar Stadium here today.

The matches involving three foreign outfits had all the thrills but, in comparison, the Brazilians’ finesse was missing from exhibited the Aussies. But then what mattered in the end for the latter was logging full points from their win.

Victor Emmanuel and Victor Gomez scored in the first half while Danilo and Pedro swelled their tally and for the Mariners, Jungwon Kim (8) and Bilal Belkadi (70) contributed.Earlier in the morning, the promising Junior National Talent Scouting Project JLN Stadium (SAI), New Delhi, defeated Sudhannya Debbarma Memorial HS School from Tripura 2-0.

The SAI team boys were measured in their passes and attack shooting in a goal each on either side of the break through Bidya Sagar (19) and Mulgy (43). Shillong Lajong FC posted a similar 2-0 triumph over FC Pune City when both DongbokLang and Parvaj Bhuiya put to account in the second session.

With a round of matches to go in the four pools, the keen fans will know by tomorrow which are the teams that would eventually make the grade.

Meanwhile, in the morning, Government High School from Mizoram defeated Indian Railways School from Siliguri 2-1, DG NCC surprised Namchi Public School from South Sikkim 3-0 and Bangladesh Defence Shaheen College beat Government Senior Secondary School from Car Nicobar 6-2 at the NWC grounds.

Bagan unfortunate loser

In afternoon matches, DSK Shivajians defeated Mohun Bagan Academy 4-2. What was unfortunate was that the latter led 2-0 after Asifuddin Molla scored a brace by the 22nd minute only to be neutralized by Laldawng Kima, first in the 35th minute and later at 62nd minute. As if this was not enough, DSK profited when H.Z. Thang and Umair scored in quick succession towards the closing stages.

In other matches played at Dr. Ambedkar Sadium, Ukhrul Hr Sec School from Manipur blanked out Air Force Bal Bharti School, New Delhi, 4-0 and Shri Guru Govind Singh Sports College scored a 3-1 win over M.W.E Hr School from Bihar.

The match between Mizoram and Indian Railways was a hotly contested one with the former emerging winners, as Lalmalsawmtluanga (53) and M.Lalrintluanga (55) scored within two minutes of each other after Joydip Das put Siliguri school in lead in the first half.

With Subendu Sekhar’s goal in the 24th minute, NCC went for the breather and after toiling in the early part of the second half, struck through Koushik Das (60) and Sumon Sutradhar just before the whistle.

The Bangla outfit proved a better side against Andaman and Nicobar Island’s Government schoolboys when they began onslaught in the fifth minute when Akim Moksin scored. Mosir Rahman added two more and as teams were heading for the break, Saurav Kumar scored his first. But after change of ends, Mustafizur Rahman (2) and Azmir Hossain added to the tally even as Saurav pulled one back.

For Ukhrul boys all the goals came in the first half with Khangatar Tungsha and Mayon Kaping scoring two times each with AFBBS boys looking passively. For a change the boys from UP played better and probably it had something to do with their Munger opponents.

Saurabh Rai (2) and Pramod Paswan scored to help their team lead 3-0 comfortably, but a defense lapse saw Dilsar reducing the margin five minutes from time.
