Subroto Cup presents ‘Khelo Football’: Providing schools with a once in a lifetime opportunity

Subroto Cup Talent Hunt

Subroto Cup, which holds the distinction of being Asia’s largest and most prestigious youth football tournament, has launched a new program to search for the top footballing talent in India in the Under-17 category for both boys and girls!

“Khelo Football” is an initiative by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports and part of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi’s mandate. To ensure supreme coverage and the best facilities, Indian Super League franchise Delhi Dynamos and sporting giants Star Sports have also been roped in by the organizers to make it a grand event.

The campaign to identify prodigious talents from areas nearing the national capital will commence on 28th of July 2016 in Gurgaon and will oversee Football Clinics and matches being conducted at over 22 locations in the Delhi NCR region. With just 200 slots available per location, schools need to hurry up to register.

These include – six locations in Delhi along with GB Nagar / Greater Noida, Gurgaon / Bhiwadi, Garhmukteshwar / Gajraula, Panipat / Sonipat, Mewat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Hapur, Jind, Moradabad, Hisar, Rewari, Rohtak, Alwar, Palwal and Jhajjar.

The youngsters participating in the upcoming “Khelo Football” program will be analysed during the camp along with the matches, from where the top talents will be selected based on their performance.

This group of talented youngsters will then form a team under an IAF / Delhi Dynamo coach and the team will get a ‘Wild Card’ entry to the finale of the Subroto Cup. What a brilliant incentive for any team!

The program presents a once in a lifetime opportunity for all the young footballers as those players, who will be identified during the Subroto Cup 2016, will then be included in the development squad of Delhi Dynamos and will be provided ‘Full Scholarship’ as part of the program.

Chance to rub shoulders with the best in the world

In addition to the scholarship provided to these youngsters, they will also get a chance to compete in the ‘Gothia Cup 2017’, which is considered to be the Youth World Cup in football. To put the magnitude of this prestigious tournament in perspective, a total of 1,675 teams from 81 nations are participating in the ongoing iteration of the competition.

The “Khelo Football” initiative especially holds significance in light of the 2017 FIFA Under-17 World Cup which will be held in India, as it will be the first time that our country will be hosting an international football competition.

The Under-17 World Cup is expected to be the springboard of future success for India on the international scene.
