Super Cup 2018 Draw: Kerala Blasters face Neroca, Chennaiyin FC to play Aizawl FC in Round of 16

With just a few days left for the Super Cup qualifiers to get underway, the AIFF, on Monday, held a meeting to decide the draws for the main round of the inaugural edition of the Super Cup.

The Super Cup is essentially a cup competition to be played between the ISL and the I-League clubs in a knockout format. A total of 16 teams are set to participate in the main event, with the top six teams from the ISL and the I-League teams getting direct entry into the round of 16.

Meanwhile, the bottom four clubs from each league are set to play the qualifiers, with four of the eight teams making it to the main draw of the tournament. The qualifiers are set to get underway from the March 15.

The main Round of 16 matches of the Super Cup, however, are set to get underway on MArch 31, when Chennaiyin FC take on Aizawl FC.

Super Cup Round of 16 Draw:

Kerala Blasters, who have struggled this season, are set to face the highflying side Neroca FC, who finished second in I-League. Meanwhile, champions Minerva face Jamshedpur, and Pune face Shillong Lajong.

The ISL league stage ended with Bengaluru FC on top of the league. The Blues, meanwhile, have qualified for the final after defeating FC Pune City 3-1 in the second leg of the semifinal. Chennaiyin FC and FC Goa are yet to play the second leg of the other semifinal

Meanwhile, Minerva Punjab clinched their maiden I-League title last week, after a close finish, that saw four teams vying for the title on the final day. With so many I-League and ISL sides set to meet each other, it is set to be a thrilling contest between the teams from the two tournaments, that have been isolated from each other for a long time.
