Simba Sports zoomed into pole position in the table after an emphatic win over Pegasus

Simba Sports FC v Pegasus FC

Score: Simba Sports FC 11 – 0 Pegasus FC

Scorers

Simba Sports FC (Kanama Vinny 10’, 27’, 31’; Zuvundru Victor 13’, 24’, 33’, 45’, 50’, 54’; Bernard S 36’, Gary Mbelenge 40’)

Simba Sports moved to the top of the table after an empathic performance against Pegasus FC. Simba scored a ridiculous 11 goals in the opening game of the day to stamp their mark on the title chase. Pegasus added a few players to their squad to bolster their defence but in the end, they were no match for a Simba side who are clearly at the top of their game.

Kanama Vinny opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Man of the Match Zuvundru Victor added a second in the 13th minute. Two more goals were added in the first half to ensure Simba were well on their way to their fourth win in as many games.

The goal fest continued in the second half with Kanama Vinny picking up a hat-trick while Zuvundru picked up a double hat-trick – the first of the season. Pegasus did their best to tighten their defence but Simba were not going to have any of it, and with Bruce Mabengo creating numerous chances from midfield, the goals were a certainty.

Bernard S and Gary Mbelenge also got themselves on the scoresheet for Simba in the one-sided affair that played out. Pegasus have added a few good players to their squad but to change things around completely they need to play more together. Given that it's only four games in, they have a realistic chance at getting out of the bottom spot. Simba Sports now claim pole position with the season more than quarter way done and will hope to hang on to it.

Man of the Match: Zuvundru Victor (Simba Sports FC)

Rangers FC v Dragons AFC

Score: Rangers 0 – 4 Dragons AFC

Scorers

Dragons AFC ( Daniel Fatoyet 24’, 38’; Kyetok Kyab 39’; Innocent D 57’)

Dragons pulled off an unlikely result against Rangers scoring four past them and conceding none in return. Dragons picked up their first win of the season and they have improved game on game and thoroughly deserved the result. Dragon started the game on the attack and although the first goal wasn’t scored until the 24th minute they always looked likely to score.

Daniel Fatoyet scored the first of his two goals in the 24th minute to ensure Dragons went into half-time with a lead. There could have been more goals for Dragons in the first half had it not been for the Rangers keeper making a string of saves. That didn’t hinder Dragons in the second half with Daniel scoring his second off a spectacular effort.

Man of the Match, Kyetok Kyab, scored a minute later to put the game to bed. Rangers were a bit unlucky not to score any goals because they did create a lot of chances but credit must be given to Danny Khumlo who was excellent in goal. Innocent D scored the fourth goal in the 57th minute assisted by Kyetok to round off the game.

The Dragons defence must be credited for their solid display, which helped them keep a clean sheet. Rangers, given the talent at their disposal, have failed to live up to expectations and find themselves without a win and 11th in the table. They are lacking a sense of cohesiveness in their unit and the results show exactly that.

Man of the Match: Kyetok Kyab (Dragons AFC)

Tornadoes FC v The Aces

Score: Tornadoes FC 7 – 1 The Aces

Scorers

Tornadoes FC (Zaibulla S 16’, 35’, 53’; Khaleel Ulla 27’, Ankith Reddy 29’; Mohammed Aahil 30’, Shabbir Shakir 49’)

The Aces (Sai Mahesh 28’)

Tornadoes turned up the heat when they defeated Aces 7 – 1 in the third game of the day. Aces started the game the stronger team and created a few chances, which they didn’t capitalise on. Both goalkeepers were in excellent form in the first half of the game and made some excellent saves to keep the goals down, but once Zaibulla opened the scoring in the 16th minute, the floodgates opened and there was no looking back for Tornadoes.

Tornadoes top scorer, Khaleel Ulla, added a second in the 28th minute before Sai Mahesh scored a stunner for The Aces a minute later to cut the lead in half. Ankith Reddy scored from the restart for Tornadoes to restore the margin back to two. The screamer from the half way line will definitely be a candidate for the goal of the season, but more importantly, helped Tornadoes take a two-goal margin into half-time. Zaibulla scored two more goals in the second half to pick up a hat trick and the man of the match plaudits.

Tornadoes got back to winning ways and although two wins in four games don't scream out title contenders, they have a talent-laden squad who will cause some noise before the season ends. The Aces currently sit in 10th in the table and haven’t picked up a win yet but it looks only a matter of time before they do, they need to put this result behind them and focus on their next game.

Man of the Match: Zaibulla S (Tornadoes FC)

Can-a-bees FC v Kammanhattan All Star

Score: Can-a-bees FC 2 – 4 Kammanhattan All Stars

Scorers

Can-a-bees FC (Rahul Sharma 48’, 50’)

Kammanhattan All Stars (Victor Augustine 18’, Lucas Ndjoli 37’, 54’; Jethro Mombongo 60’)

Kammanhattan kept pace with the top two of the league after defeating Can-a-bees FC in a close game. Kammnahttan started the game with a lot of possession and created chances early on but the Can-a-bees keeper was in fine form and made a string of saves to keep the game 0-0. However, Kammanhattan did find a way through in the 18th minute via Victor Augustine.

The first half only saw one goal but when Luca Ndjoli scored 7 minutes after the restart the game started swaying in favour of Kammanhattan. Can-a-bees, even though two goals down, were creating chances and playing confidently and that paid off when Rahul Sharma pulled one back in the 48th minute. Two minutes later, Rahul scored again for Can-a-bees to level the scores which they thoroughly deserved. But Lucas found the eventual winner in the 54th minute to hand Kammanhattan the lead again.

Can-a-bees went in search of the equaliser and with space opening up, Kammanhattan hit on the counter attack and Jethro Mombongo scored a last minute goal to ensure his side picked up all three points. Can-a-bees would feel they deserved a point from the game for coming back from two goals down late in the game but truth be told Kammanhattan were in charge of the game for the majority and got the result they deserved.

Man of the Match: Lucas Ndjoli (Kammanhattan All Stars)

United 4th Phase FC v Bangalore City FC B

Score: United 4th Phase FC 0 – 5 Bangalore City FC B

Scorers

Bangalore City FC B (Ibrahim Kanote 11’; Abdul Kuka 18’, 41’; Abdhul B 50’, Ron B 57’)

Bangalore City FC B maintained their 100% record, defeating title rivals United 4th Phase FC. This loss for United 4th means a potential end to their title chase with them having lost their match in GW 3 against Simba Sports. BCFC have become synonymous with team play and hard work and both of those characteristics clearly reflect on the pitch.

Both teams started the game battling for possession but BCFC came out on top but their breakthrough only came thanks to a set piece opportunity. Ibrahim Kanote stepped up to convert a free kick and hand his side the lead. United 4th got back into the game but were caught on the counter and former Vipers player Abdul Kuka stepped up to double BCFC’s lead.

The game went into half-time with BCFC holding onto a two-goal lead. United 4th came out of half-time with intent to score but the BCFC defence held them off in the early parts of the second half.

Kuka went on to grab his second of the game and in the process ensuring a three-goal lead and killing the game off. That’s when the game got heated and Shamanth Gowda (United 4th) and Manas Kalra (BCFC) got sent off for an altercation. Abdhul B and Ron added two more goals for BCFC to complete a rout.

We expected the game to be closer but BCFC once again showed the benefits of true team work and even though they lost top spot to Simba on goal difference, they are definitely favourites for the title.

Man of the Match: Abdul Kuka (Kammanhattan All Stars)

Brothers United v Royal Eagles FC

Score: Brothers United 7 – 0 Royal Eagles FC

Scorers

Brothers United (Joydeb Barman 3’; Alok Kumar 8’, 33’, 45’; Sunil Belgaonkar 27’, 49’; Akshay Tanaji 59’)

Brothers United turned on the style to score 7 past Royal Eagles in an unexpected result. Royal Eagles have been playing well in the past few games so for them to ship 7 goals in was a bit of a surprise but credit must be given to Brothers who look like a transformed team since their own 7-0 defeat to BCFC B.

Joydeb Barman opened the scoring early on in the 3rd minute to open the floodgates. Five minutes later they doubled their lead via Alok Kumar after which Royal Eagles got into the game but they couldn’t capitalise on the chances they created, and Sunil Belgaonkar’s goal just before half-time killed the game off. The second half was much of the same with Brothers in control and the goals flowed consistently. Alok Kumar went on to score two more goals to pick up a hat-trick and the Man of the Match plaudits.

Akshay Tanaji added a goal in the 57th minute to make it 7- 0 and hand Brothers a big win. Royal Eagles must be kicking themselves for a lacklustre performance and they do have the talent and know how to bounce back. Brothers United now move into 4th place in the standings with this win.

Man of the Match: Alok Kumar (Brothers United)
