Tornadoes FC picked up a big win over Kammanhattan to keep their promotion hopes alive

Brothers United v Rangers FC

Score: Brothers United 3–2 Rangers FC

Scorers

Brothers United (Umar Meer 20’, Sunil Belgaonkar 29’, 56’)

Rangers FC (Karthik R 18’; 46’)

Brothers United picked up a much-needed win when they defeated Rangers in a 5-goal thriller. Rangers thought they had done enough when Karthik scored the equaliser in the 46th minute but a late goal from Sunil Belgaonkar condemned Rangers to another defeat in what has been an extremely disappointing season for them.

Earlier in the game, new signing Karthik opened the scoring in the 18th minute to give Rangers the lead against the run of play. That lead was short lived and a slick passing move by Brothers saw Umar Meer slot home the equaliser in the 20th minute. Brothers then went on to take the lead just before the half-time whistle when Sunil Belgaonkar scored a beauty to hand his side the lead. The second half started scrappily with both teams failing to make use of possession and was largely littered by a string of unsuccessful passes.

Karthik then managed to pull Rangers back to level pegging in the 46th minute after which his side went on to find the winner. That eventually let the space at the back open up and Brothers took full advantage of the situation and managed to find the winner in the 56th minute via Sunil.

The Man of the Match went to Sunil Belgaonkar who managed to score two goals and grab the assist for the first goal. Rangers were doomed to another loss in what has been an uninspiring season for them while Brothers have had a rollercoaster season see-sawing between winning and losing.

Man of the Match: Sunil Belgaonkar (Brothers United)

Royal Eagles FC v United 4th Phase FC

Score: Royal Eagles FC 0–7 United 4th Phase FC

United 4th Phase FC (Dauda Ahme 9’, 52’, 53’; Altamish Chaudhary 41’, 49’, 54’; Multan Khan 39’)

United 4th Phase scored 7 goals in back to back games to move into the top three in the standings. Royal Eagles completely disintegrated in the second half to let in 6 goals to lose the game by a landslide. Royal Eagles put in a dedent shift in the first half, conceding only one goal but could not create too many chances of their own. This, coupled with them giving away possession cheaply eventually came back to bite them.

The second half saw them concede 6 goals in a matter of 15 minutes resulting in the lop-sided score line. The man in form Dauda Ahme opened the scoring for United 4th in the 9th minute via a header. Even though United 4th had most of the possession in the first half the Royal Eagles defence held tight and even had a chance or two of their own but without any support for Bobin Shreesta up front, they could not do much.

The second half was a completely different story and the goals poured in like there was no tomorrow. Multan Khan doubled his side’s lead in the 39th minute before Altamish Chaudhary scored a hat trick and Dauda Ahme added two more. The key contributor in midfield was Sai Kiran who was phenomenal with his passing. This win sees United 4th move into the top three in the standings while Royal Eagles are confined to be a mid table team.

Pegasus FC v Dragons AFC

Score: Pegasus FC 0–14 Dragons AFC

Scorers

Dragons AFC (Danny Khumlo 4’; Alamu Oluwatola 9’; Emmanuel Ayodele 13’, 26’; Walid Abdalla 15’; Ayodele Olakunle 23’, 29’, 55’; Daniel Fatoye 34’, 36’, 45’; Mario Y 46’; Shamo D 48’; Nesleen Almeida 56’)

Dragons were rampant against Pegasus scoring 14 goals past them to make it five wins in a row. Danny Khumlo opened the scoring in the 4th minute from the penalty spot to give Dragons the early lead. The captain who was in goal stepped up to convert the spot-kick and there was no looking back after that. Alamu Oluwatola doubled their lead five minutes later before Emmanuel Ayodele quickly made it three.

The goals poured in regular intervals and Pegasus got no respite. Ayodele Olakunle and Daniel Fatoye both managed to pick up hat tricks while even the three substitutes who came on – Mario, Shamo and Nesleen - got on the score sheet. Walid Abdalla was the other goal scorers. Pegasus disappointed in this game after putting on a good performance last week against BCFC. Their main problem has been keeping possession of the ball, which they have failed to do so.

Dragons have been the surprise package of the season and are on the verge of having a big impact on the title race. They already defeated Simba last week while their upcoming game is against Bangalore City FC B. Credit must be given to manager/captain Danny Khumlo who has taken complete charge of this team to make them truly special. For Pegasus, this season is a learning curve but we have no doubts in our mind they will come back stronger.

Man of the Match: Daniel Fatoye (Dragons AFC)

Tornadoes FC v Kammanhattan All Stars

Score: Tornadoes FC (3) – (0) Kammanhattan All Stars

Scorers

Tornadoes FC (Mohammed Khaleel 30’, 33’, 53’)

The final game of the day saw Tornadoes run out 3-0 winners against Kammanhattan All Stars. The result was surprising given the fact that Kammanhattan had just beaten BCFC in GW 6 to re-enter the title race and this performance was extremely disappointing. With this loss, Kammanhattan are pretty much out of the title race, but more importantly, have dropped out of the top three and their promotion hopes are out of their hands.

Mohammed Khaleel was the star of the show and scored a hat trick to become the leading scorer in the division. The first half was evenly matched between both the sides and both defences stood tall. For Tornadoes, Vinod and Pasha had good games in defence and neutralised the Kammanhattan attacking threat, which is usually pompous.

The Kammanhattan defence also managed to repel Tornadoes attack with Mutsa and Ahmed putting in good shifts. Just before the half-time whistle went, Tornadoes managed to go in front thanks to Khaleel who picked the ball up on a counter attack and made no mistake in slotting home the opener.

Tornadoes started the second half the better team and reaped the rewards instantly grabbed a second within 3 minutes of the restart. Kammanhattan were missing the attacking oomph they usually play with and paid the price for it. Kahleel scored his and his side’s third 7 minutes from the final whistle to wrap things up for his team. Kammanhattan drop out of the top three and are now in a four-way race along with Tornadoes, United 4th Phase FC and Dragons for the final promotion spot.

Man of the Match: Mohammed Khaleel (Tornadoes FC)
