Indian conglomerate Tata Motors had on 2nd âÂÂÂÂ?ÂÂÂÂ?of November announced the signing of four-time Ballon D’Or winner Lionel Messi as a global brand ambassador to promote and endorse its passenger vehicles, globally. The company has now rolled out an association campaign called, “MadeOfGreat” with the football star.
This is the first time ever that the Passenger Vehicle Business has undertaken an overall brand association campaign with a brand ambassador.
“The campaign is based on consumer insight and rides on a strong consumer motivation of ‘Seeking Excellence’ & ‘Self Belief’ which is epitomized by the confluence of two global brands- Tata Motors and Lionel Messi. The core idea of this campaign - Made of Great emerges from the inspiring thought of ‘What drives us from within is what makes us great’. The Company will also soon launch an exclusive, limited edition merchandising range of this association.” a statement in Tata Motors’ press release read.
Messi’s huge fan following in India will boost Tata Motors
Messi is widely believed to be the best football player ever and has won four back to back to Ballon D'Or awards between 2009 and 2012. Recently, the Argentine helped his team to a historic treble winning season in which he scored a total of 58 goals in 57 appearances.
The Barcelona player also took his national team Argentina to the final of World Cup in 2014 and was awarded the best player of the tournament. Messi has a huge fan following in India, which will definitely benefit the company in their campaign.
