Thierry Henry set to rejoin Arsenal?

Arsenal Boss Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is looking forward to bring back Thierry Henry to the club for a third spell in January.

“He has been practising with us. Will I sign him again in January? I don’t know. I don’t rule it out. He is sharp,” Arsene told the club’s official website.

“You know what Thierry brings. He gives you hope, especially when he comes off the bench and, of course, he is a great communicator. He is a very intelligent guy and of course he can give advice to the young players because he was in their position when he arrived here first. We will make a decision on this in January,” he added.

“I always resisted bringing former players back after they had left, but last year was different,” he said. “We lost Gervinho due to an injury and the connection with Thierry was perfect. This year we also lose Gervinho as they are playing the African Nations Cup two years in a row. So we will be confronted with shortage in attack, especially if Chamakh goes. You know what he gives you. He gives you hope, especially when he comes on. That is the most important thing. He is a communicator. An extrovert. Very intelligent. He can only give good advice to players because he was in their position when he arrived here,” concluded Wenger.

Last season, he was allowed to leave New York Red Bulls on a momentary loan during the MLS off-season and played seven games for the London club.

When asked about the loan move, Henry said: “I would like to go back to England with Arsenal for sure.”

“I wasn’t planning to go back to play last season. It was only because Gervinho and (Marouane) Chamakh went to the African Nations Cup. I was there to train and they asked me if I wanted to play. Who knows what might happen in the future? I’ve not yet spoken to Arsene about it so I don’t know what capacity I could go back in.”

Although with Giroud around, he may simply be utilized as a super-sub, but what he offers the team is more than goal opportunities.
