On Friday, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi met the Indian football team that participated in the recently concluded FIFA U-17 World Cup. Modi, who had personally requested to meet the team, interacted with the players at the Prime Minister's Office and stated that he had seen a 'spark' in them and wished them all the luck for the future.

From his official Twitter account, the PM then posted pictures with each player in the team along with a personal message for every member of the squad. He had a special message for young Jeakson Singh, who was India's solitary goal scorer at the premier event, as he hit the back of the net against Colombia. Modi wrote that Singh's name will be remembered in the history of Indian football forever and stated that he was 'proud of him'.

While the PM's gesture was praised by one and all, popular TV presenter Joe Morrison was left fuming at the events and replied in scathing manner to the tweet. He criticized the Prime Minister for using the rising popularity of the Indian team to gain political mileage.

Morrison was also furious about the fact that Modi never congratulated Indian national team goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh after his exploits in Europe, where he became the first Indian to play in a European top division and also the first to play in the Europa League.

Taking a strong dig at the PM, Morrison even asked him to 'google' Sandhu's achievements.

However, he was serverely criticized for his tweet, with many people suggesting that it was a simple photo-op and had nothing to do with Sandhu. Many people stated that there is no merit in comparing the two achievements. Also, some users also trolled the presenter, who is quite popular among fans in India.

Here are the reactions to Morrison's tweet:
