Pune, 21 October 2015 DSK Shivajians Football Club started their Under 18 I-League campaign on a bright note as they defeated Mumbai FC 12-0 at the DSK Dream City Football Fields. The first match of the U18 I-League saw plenty of goals from the hosts as they took an early control over the match. Playing in red, the hosts started the match brightly, keeping most of the possession. However, chances were far and few in the opening 20 minutes of the match.
In the 21st minute, Lalnunsiama broke free from the marker to tap the ball in the back of the net following a DSK Shivajians free kick, giving the hosts a valuable lead. Lallianzuala had an immediate chance to double the lead moments later as he found himself one-on-one with the keeper, but was unable to convert the opportunity.
At the half hour mark, Jesse found Rohit Kumar in the box with a thumping cross, which Rohit powerfully slotted in the back of the net to double the hosts’ lead. A barrage of goals followed within the next five minutes as captain Mawihmingthanga, Jesse, and Lallianzuala all found the back of the net to make it 5-0 after 35 minutes.
In the 38th minute, Mawihmingthanga doubled his goal tally of the match as he calmly slotted the ball in the back of the net as DSK Shivajians went into the break with a 6-0 lead.
Second half was more of the same as Lallianzuala fired his second goal of the match to make it 7-0 to the hosts.
Substitute Gagandeep Singh, who replaced Jesse in the second half, fired a hat-trick in nine minutes to take DSK Shivajians’ goal tally to ten. Ten minutes from full time, Mawihmingthanga also completed his hat-trick as he slotted the ball in the top of the net from close range.
Safvan completed the demolition in the added minutes at the end of the second half as he dribbled the ball across half the field and scored a wonder goal.
DSK Shivajians climb at the top of the U18 I-League table of the Maharashtra Zone with this thumping victory. PIFA will now travel to face DSK Shivajians on 25th October 2015 at the DSK Dream City Football Fields.
