Under-19 I-League: United SC play out a thrilling 1-1 draw against Mohun Bagan

The United SC Juniors scored a late equaliser in the second half injury-time to split points on Monday afternoon against Mohun Bagan at the Mariners Maidan ground. The home side took the lead in the 12th minute which was cancelled by a late free-kick from United SC captain Babun Das in the 92nd minute.It was the Purple youngsters who played better and their best chance came midway through the first session when K. Asif sent a through ball for Rafique but the latter could only lob it over the custodian.The breakthrough finally came two minutes before the end of the match. Sujoy was fouled outside the box and the eventual free-kick by Babun Das didn't give the Mohun Bagan custodian any chance whatsoever and restored parity for the away side. Mohun Bagan didn't have a chance to muster another attack and the scoreline remained the same until the final whistle.With one point from today's encounter, United SC stay in first place in the Calcutta Zone, still unbeaten with eight points from four games while Mohun Bagan are in third position with five points from four games.
