United SC win Sanhati Gold Cup beating Mohammedan Sporting Club 2-1

A young United SC won the final of the Sanhati Gold Cup 2-1 against experienced Kolkata rivals Mohammedan Sporting Club at Amta in Howrah. The scorers were Rajon Burman and Jagannath Oraon for United SC, while Daniel Bidemi had equalised for Mohammedan Sporting.

It was a superior display of passing and pressing football from United SC, which was introduced to the club some two years back by a great football thinker which has been implemented by the clubs coaches across all age group teams.

The match started with fasted pace football from either side and it was United SC who scored the first goal of the match in the 29th minute through Rajon Burman, but their lead lasted only three minutes then Daniel Bidemi scored for Mohammedan Sporting from the spot following a foul on Somide Adelaja inside the 18-yard box.

Six minutes prior to half-time United SC restored the lead through Jagannath Oraon, which they maintained until the end of the match though Mohammedan Sporting went all out after the breather to get an equaliser for the second time, but it wasn't to be.

Jagannath Oraon was adjudged man of the tournament.
