We are less than a month away from the second edition of the Indian Super League that is set to kick off on October 3rd and there’s no doubt all the football fans in India are excited like never before. All the eight ISL franchises are up and running with their pre-season preparations as they travel around the world to play friendlies against some of the top clubs.
There has been a revamp in all of the eight ISL franchises squads and we are all ready to witness the new emerging players over the course of the competition. Last season, we had the privilege to watch great footballing legends like Alessandro Del Piero, Robert Pires, Marco Materazzi, Nicholas Anelka and few others on the Indian turf.
In this year’s edition of the ISL, we are welcome the likes of Roberto Carlos who is set to play a manager/player role for Delhi Dynamos. While the Spanish World Cup Winner Carlos Marchena has been unveiled as Kerala Blasters’ marquee signing this season.
This is definitely a good sign for the all-round development and progress of Indian football as the highly experienced foreign players are brought into the league with hopes that their experience will be handed down to our Indian talents.
The Indian national football team is yet to make a breakthrough in the international scene and ISL is the way to go about in improving ourselves. In addition to the footballing talents on the pitch, the competition will be watched a number of Bollywood celebrities who are also the owners of some of the ISL franchises.
The ISL fever is very much on and the official broadcaster Star Sports has taken up the initiative to come up with a new advertisement video that features the prominent owners of the franchises involved. Basically, the video showcases the various celebrities boasting about their star players in a video chat having fun at each other’s expense.
Abhishek Bachchan sends a video of his player scoring a beautiful free kick on the group chat and warns Virat Kohli, Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Kapoor and Sourav Ganguly. Each of the celebrity owners responds to one another by sending a video clip of their star players in action.
