Following Florent Malouda’s transfer to the Indian Super League with Delhi Dynamos, Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has sent out a message for his former team-mate as he begins a new adventure in India. The pair played together for Chelsea for five years winning everything English football had to offer.

In the video, Drogba wished Malouda the best for the latter’s new challenge in India and also mentioned that he would come to India to see his former teammate play. The video takes a funny turn when the camera zooms out to show Malouda sitting in the seat right next to Drogba.

Drogba was also linked with a move to the ISL with the same team but eventually decided to move to the United States to play football in Major League Soccer with Montreal Impact. Drogba and Malouda were team-mates even before they played for a very successful Chelsea side when they played for Frech club Guingamp in 2002-03.

At Chelsea, however, the duo won a Premier League title in 2010, three FA Cups in four years (2009, 2010 and 2012) and a Community Shield in 2009. The biggest win came in 2012 with Didier Drogba scoring the winning penalty to make Chelsea the first team from London to win the UEFA Champions League.

The Ivorian legend was named Chelsea’s Player of the year in 2010 after the club won the double while Malouda was named the club’s Players’ Player of the year.

Delhi, who missed out on a semi-final berth in the inaugural edition of the ISL, have signed Malouda and Real Madrid and Brazil legend Roberto Carlos in the hopes of launching a serious title bid this year. According to various sources, Dehli’s spending is not done yet as they have been heavily linked with former Liverpool player John Arne Riise and Sweden legend Anders Svensson.
