Special hat included in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain

Konami’s upcoming game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will include a special version of a dunce hat in the form of a Chicken Hat. This special item will make the game a bit easier says the game’s designer.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima revealed the new item during a live Christmas stream for fans on Christmas Day. Many fans showed up to watch a three-hour-long video hoping for some more information on the game or even a release date. Instead, Kojima made its big reveal around 2:45:00 mark which was nothing but a wearable Chicken Hat.

But the Chicken Hat isn’t a gag and does serve a purpose. According to Kotaku, players will get the item if they keep dying and retrying the same section of the game. Choosing to wear the hat will make the player nearly invisible to enemies. So now enemies will be slower to spot and react to players. The hat has been added to help players through difficult sections of the game, with the only catch being that they have to suffer the humiliation of looking ridiculous.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be launching sometime in 2015 for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. A PC version is also being developed, but Konami is yet to announce a release date for the game. In the meantime, check out the plot details for The Phantom Pain here.
