Mega Man fans will be happy to know that the games spiritual successor, Mighty No. 9, is almost ready for release. Megaman creator Keiji Inafune has stated that they are “pretty much finished” with the games development.

“We’re pretty much finished, and from now on we’ll be heading into the porting and promotion phase,”- Inafune said in his recent New Year video message for fans.

The video also includes some gameplay footage with Inafune playing through one of Mighty No. 9’s levels.

The game was funded by a very successful Kickstarter campaign with the funds going way past its $900,000 goal. The Kickstarter ended in October 2013 with a total of $3.8 million. Comcept is now taking further crowdfunding in the form of pre-orders which they will use to pay for full English voice acting for the game.

Mighty No. 9 is a side-scrolling platformer that is being developed by Inafune’s independent development studio, Comcept. Abstraction Games will be helping out with ports. The game has players take on the role of Beck, who is the 9th in line of “powerful robots”. A computer virus has made every mechanized creature crazy and it is now Becks job to "confront the final evil that threatens the planet."

The old-school platformer will be available for the Mac, PC, Linux, PS3, PS4, PS Vita, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Wii U and Nintendo 3DS which is an awful lot of platforms. The game is slated to release sometime in April. Be sure to check out Inafune’s New Year video message below:
