EA plans "large activites" for Star Wars: Battlefront release

Star Wars: Battlefront

EA has now been given the responsibility of creating the new Star Wars games for the next decade, and they seem to have some “large activities” planned for the franchise as its release draws nearer. Star Wars: Battlefront is the first game to come out of this EA Disney partnership. Developed by DICE, the game will be third in the series, though EA is marketing the game as a reboot rather than a sequel.

New Game to be aligned with Star Wars movie release

In EA’s earning call earlier this week, CFO Blake Jorgensen revealed more about the company’s vision for Star Wars: Battlefront. Jorgensen stated that the games release will be “aligned” with the release date of Stars Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and that fans can expect some “very large activity” when the game nears launch.

“We’re extremely excited about that. We think there’s huge potential for that title. More to come in the next couple of months on that as more about the movie comes out as well as more about our title comes out. You should consider that a very large activity for us [this year] and a very large focus–similar to how we’ve thought about Battlefields in the past.”

Considering that the movie will be releasing on December 18th, the game is likely to release in the same week. Jorgensen has confirmed that the game will launch before Christmas 2015, which is probably the best time to plan a release as the Star Wars hype will be at its highest. EA can also expect some good sales during the Holiday Season.

Fans of the series can expect to hear some more details about the upcoming Star Wars: Battlefront and Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens in the coming months. Here’s hoping the game lives up to its hype.
