Elite: Dangerous commemorates Terry Pratchett by adding Discworld space station

Elite:Dangerous has added a special Pratchett Disc Spacestation in memory of the late author

Many fans mourned the loss of beloved fantasy writer, Terry Pratchett, last week. Pratchett lost his battle to early onset Alzheimer’s on March 12th, 2016. His works had a lasting impression on people everywhere and though he is gone, his legacy still lives on. To commemorate that legacy, Frontier Developments have added a new “Pratchett’s Disc” space station to Elite: Dangerous.

The Disc-like space station is a nod to Pratchett’s much loved Discworld novels. It was added with latest Wings Update 1.2.05. Frontier Developments Executive Producer, Michael Brookes, told Eurogamer that the author had a lasting impact on the staff, which is why they decided to add the station.

"At Frontier we have a great many Pratchett fans on staff and we were all saddened to learn of his passing," said Brookes. "The sentiment was reflected by our community so we felt it would be right to remember him in Elite: Dangerous."

This isn’t the first time that Frontier Developments has honoured an individual in Elite: Dangerous. After Leonard Nimoy (Spock from Star Trek) passed away earlier this month, the team added a Planet Vulcan with a specially designed Leonard Nimoy space station to commemorate the actor and his work.
