What's the story?

With FIFA 18's highly awaited 10-1 list now out, Twitter and Reddit are abuzz with debate over who deserved a better rating and who didn't deserve for this year's release. Amid the debates, yesterday's top 10 FIFA 18 players' reveal didn't quite douse the fire as it fuelled it.

Two of the top 10 FIFA 18 players are, undoubtedly, Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. Following the official ratings announcement, it was revealed that Ronaldo leads the way for FIFA 18 with a rating of 94, and Messi remains second with a 93-rated overall card.

In case you didn't know...

Messi and Ronaldo have been in a tug of war of sorts over the past few years when it comes to FIFA gaming as they continue to trade blows atop the ratings pile of EA Sports' biggest franchise. This year too the fight has resumed as Ronaldo has already pipped Messi to the spot of the cover star of FIFA 18.

The heart of the matter

The final ratings were enough to create a furore all over social media, with many fans taking to Reddit and Twitter in order to vent their frustration.

The reactions weren't kind to Ronaldo

As was expected, Barcelona fans were furious that Ronaldo actually beat Messi to the pinnacle of the ratings twice in a row and made that clear all over the web. Furthermore, accusations were leveled against Ronaldo that he tops the list because he made the cover. Hard to argue with that one, but Real Madrid fans would definitely beg to differ.

The rest of the list features eight other superstar footballers - Gonzalo Higuain, Toni Kroos, Eden Hazard, Sergio Ramos, Robert Lewandowski, Manuel Neuer, Luis Suarez, Neymar.

What's next?

The top 100 official FIFA 18 ratings are out and see Ronaldo yet again ahead of the pack. FIFA 18 releases on 29th September 2017 across all major platforms and its demo version will be out tomorrow.

Author's take

The war between Ronaldo and Messi fans appears to be a never ending battle between two sets of very passionate fans and FIFA 18 will surely intensify this fight even further.
