Final Fantasy XV demo map is around 1.6 square miles in size

Final Fantasy XV will be releasing on March 17th

According to a latest article on DualShockers, the Final Fantasy XV demo map will be quite large. The site has estimated that the map will be at least eight percent of the land in The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. They came to this conclusion after studying a stream by Final Fantasy Director, Hajime Tabata.

Tabata had showcased roughly 45 minutes of gameplay of the Episode Duscae demo yesterday, though he did not reveal the games map size. This was instead calculated by the site after they managed to snap a screenshot of the games map during the live stream.

According to their results, the map is roughly 1,937 meters by 1,551, making the total area of the demo map around 3,006,224. This translates to 3 square kilometres, or 1.16 square miles. The map for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is around 37 square kilometres, which makes the FF XV demo map about 8% of the Skyrims total map. Many have suggested that the map displayed during the stream does not comprise of the full map from the Episode Duscae demo. So it is possible that the size could be even larger.

Tabata had stated that the final map will be ten-twenty times larger than that of the demo, with many areas and towns to explore. Whether these calculations are accurate or not, it is safe to say that the demo map will be reasonably large.

A copy of the Final Fantasy XV demo will be included in the first shipment copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD. Type 0-HD will be releasing on March 17th for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Developers Square Enix has stated that the Final Fantasy XV game is now at 60% completion. With any luck, the game should release sometime this year.
