Halo:The Masterchief Collection content update beta has been cancelled

Halo:The Masterchief Collection to recieve a massive update sometime soon

Halo: The Master Chief Collection has improved considerably since its rocky launch last year, but there are still several issues that plague the game to date. 343 Industries stated that they would be releasing a massive update soon which should fix all of the game’s remaining issues, and would require its own beta to test. However, a recent announcement on HalyWaypoint reveals that the content update beta has now been cancelled in favour of internal testing.

343i explained that a beta for the content update will require extra time and work, which in turn would have delayed the content update. So internal testing seems more suitable if they want to get the update out sooner.

Their announcement on HaloWaypoint states:

“The team has determined that that final testing for the content update will be completed internally, and we will not be conducting a beta test for the next CU. Also, it was determined that the additional time and work devoted to the beta would’ve actually postponed the public availability of the content update.

Lastly, there were some added challenges surrounding the CU beta – including an extra series of required updates and rollbacks – that made us take a step back and reexamine the CU beta. Ultimately, this plan will allow us to deliver the smoothest possible experience, and ensure that the next content update becomes available as soon as possible.”

343i are yet to announce a release date for the content update, as they are currently working on it. They have stated that their current priority with this update is to deliver improvements to the game’s buggy matchmaking and party systems, though they are working on additional items as well. The team will be revealing more details of this update will entail in the coming weeks.

Besides this, the development team has revealed that there will be changes to the game’s current playlist. A new Team Sniper will be taking the place of Team SWAT, while an altered Rumble Pit will be making its way to the game sometime soon. There is also an Objective only playlist planned for the game, though 343i has not revealed when these will be out.
