Homeworld Remastered Collection release date and trailer revealed

Homeworld Remastered Collection trailer revealed

Gamers got their first look at Gearbox’s highly anticipated upcoming strategy title Homeworld Remastered Collection at PAX South 2015. The game is a remake of Relic’s classic real-time strategy title Homeworld 1 and 2. Sadly Homeworld: Cataclysm is not part of the collection. The developers have also revealed a release date as well as screenshots and a trailer for the remake at their panel in PAX.

The original Homeworld strategy games were developed by Relic Entertainment and won many Game of the Year awards. The series eventually came to a halt in 2003 after the release of Homeworld 2. Developers Gearbox bought the rights to the Homeworld franchise and have now announced the return of the game with their Homeworld Remastered Collection.

According to Gearbox, Homeworld Remastered will feature a new combined multiplayer setup from both the games as well as a couple of other bonuses. Here is Gearbox’s statement:

“Homeworld Remastered Collection updates and introduces the landmark space strategy games to modern audiences. The collection includes Homeworld and Homeworld 2, painstakingly remastered by Gearbox in cooperation with key members of the original development team and members of the series’ passionate fan community. As a free bonus, this collection also includes the original versions of Homeworld and Homeworld 2 with compatibility updates, preserving the purest form of the original releases.”

Purchasing the Collection will give players access to the games Steam Multiplayer Beta. So players can now enjoy the games multiplayer feature.

“Competitive multiplayer modes for Homeworld and Homeworld 2 have been joined to offer players access to races, maps and game modes from both games in one integrated multiplayer experience. This beta combines code from over 15 years ago with newly-written changes, and will be shaped by fan feedback as development progresses.”

Homeworld Remastered is set to release on February 25th and is priced at $34.99. The game can also be pre-ordered on Steam for a discounted price of $29.74. This will change once the game launches so it’s best to place your order now. You can also check out the new trailer showcasing the remastered game below:
