Fallout 4 is going to be the fourth title in the Fallout franchise. Given how popular and critically acclaimed the Fallout series is, it’s no wonder that the fourth instalment is most anticipated sequel recently. It’s been six years since the last game came out and fans of the series have been dying to hear any and every (legitimate) news on the game, but there hasn’t been much to go by.
So far there has been no official news or announcements from the developers, although there have been plenty of hoaxes floating around regarding the games release. Bethesda studios has dropped some hints over the years so the game is definitely not a myth. In fact the whole reason why Bethesda Softworks purchased the series is because they have every intent on making more Fallout sequels.
In one of his earlier statements, Pete Hines of Bethesda Softworks has said: "The whole reason we went out and acquired the license and that we now own Fallout is that we clearly intended to make more than one. This is not something we're going to do once and then go away and never do it again. When that will be or how long that will be God only knows, but we acquired it specifically because we wanted to own it and develop it and work on it like we do with The Elder Scrolls."
So even though there are plans for a Fallout 4, there is still no official statement on the games release or how long it will take. There are also rumours that the games development began as early as 2012, as the developers were recruiting programmers for an “unannounced game for ‘future consoles’” which we can only assume was Fallout 4.
In an interview conducted earlier this year by gaming blog Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Bethesda’s game director Todd Howard has said “We don’t [have a timeframe for our next game announcement], but I think it’s gonna be a while.”
Hopefully, the announcements will be made sometime in 2015, which will mean that they game may release by late 2015 or in 2016. That would be seven years since the last Fallout release, which is a pretty long time. Fans will just have to endure a bit more, and hopefully the game will be worth the wait.
