The new game in the pipeline by Atari

Atari contributed their share of gaming fun by announcing their upcoming game of the Asteroids named Asteroids: Outpost thus presenting their take on re-imagining the world of their famous 1979 arcade game Asteroids. The idea of following-in the footsteps of their iconic title comes off as an odd move,since there are hundreds of Asteroid like games in the market.

Inspite of all this, Atari and Salty Games are sticking to the basic concept in their quest of creating an entirely different game. Asteroids: Outpost paints players in the role of a deep space miner as they journey in the unknowns of the space in a sandbox style game.

Thus players must survive on the harsh asteroid belt and then attempt to create their own base and by means of which they can earn a fortune. Gameplay will include many activities like; exploring the asteroid, crafting equipment, expanding their territory, collecting resources, scavenging for ore, and building highly customized bases.

Fred Chesnais, Chief Executive Officer at Atari had this to say on the unveiling of their latest title: “We’re paying homage to the original Asteroids by incorporating classic features such as asteroid blasting capabilities, while introducing a completely new premise and gameplay. Asteroids: Outpost will appeal to both fans of the classic Asteroids as well as enthusiasts of immersive survival games and expansive MMOs.”
