What’s the story?

For FIFA Ultimate Team players, buying Lionel Messi is a painful prospect but there is a surprise waiting in the wings. What are the chances of you buying Messi for cheap on FIFA Ultimate Team? The answer is pretty low, but Eduardo Salvio boasts of Messi-like attributes, and he is available at a dirt-cheap price.

The Argentinean plays for Benfica and he has comparable attributes to Messi that make him an almost similar player to the Barcelona legend. The Eagles forward has impressive 87 pace, 84 dribbling and an unstoppable finesse shot, all of which has made him one of the most popular buys in FIFA Ultimate Team.

The context

The FIFA Ultimate Team is is a game mode which allows you to build “All-Star” squads to play with online against other people. In this game mode, you are able to acquire players from various teams to build your own squad. You can then take this team and play one on one games or special tournaments online or against the computer.

The way you acquire players is through packs. You get money for the packs by playing in games or trading your existing players on this auction system.

The heart of the matter

With Messi being arguably the best player in the world and second best in FIFA 17 after Cristiano Ronaldo, he is pretty expensive to buy in FIFA Ultimate Team. Therefore, to play with a player with Messi-like attributes and one who can be got for cheap, Salvio is your best bet.

What’s next?

However, buying “Cheap Messi” Salvio for peanuts comes with a complication. The 26-year-old has the “Injury Prone” trait, which means you can’t use him like Messi. That said, he can be a devastating super-sub to run at defences late in games and help you score the winner with a delicious curler of some finesse into the top corner.

Author’s take

The next best option for Messi-craving players in FIFA Ultimate Team is not someone famous, like a Neymar or a Dybala, but a certain Salvio, who has been at Benfica since 2012 and also won two Europa League titles with Atletico Madrid. His movement and positioning attributes are pretty awesome, and he is also cheaper than Messi. Therefore, it is no surprise people are going crazy about the “Cheap Messi” Salvio.
