Microsoft's Phil Spencer says Gears of War team making progress

Microsoft purchased the Gears of War franchise from its original developers Epic Games earlier this year, and they have been pretty tight-lipped about the project ever since. Fans have gotten very little info from Microsoft about the new game in the series which will be available for the Xbox One. And there really isn’t much to go by.

But the good news is that a former employee at Epic Games, Rod Fergusson, is now part of Black Tusk Studios which is now in charge of the Gears of War franchise, so the game seems to be in good hands. Microsoft finally gave fans a small piece of info on the upcoming game, claiming that it was making good progress and will be well worth the long wait. Phil Spencer of Microsoft studios tweeted the following after his trip to Black Tusk Studios.

Spencer also stated the following: ‘As happens on any platform. Longer teams have with the hardware, the better they get at using it, and the better the tools get,’

According to Spencer, the game “is making massive progress” and the longer the team works on it, the better the game will be. We will just have to wait and find out though.

There still hasn’t been any announcement from Microsoft on just how long this game will take to release. Given that Microsoft has not even revealed a single image or a few details on the game, it could mean that it won’t be releasing anytime soon. On the other hand, Halo 5 is set to release sometime in Fall of next year, 2015. So this could mean that the next instalment in the Gears of War series could be expected as late as 2016.

Hopefully we’ll see more from the game next year.
