PS4 users can now win a gaming session with their favorite celeb

Sony has announced a new initiative titled ‘PlayStation Heroes’ which aims to connect players with celebrities in order to raise money for charities. The list include the Make-A-Wish Foundation, The USO, and the V Foundation for Cancer Research. Each of these charities will be receiving a $100,000 donation from Sony to start the initiative.

Sony will be introducing a new PlayStation Heroes app that PS4 owners can use to purchase and download digital games or add-ons. This in turn will enter users into a sweepstake in which they can win a chance to play with or against a celebrity, either online or in real-life. This way, players can support these charities through the app as well as win a chance to meet their favourite celebrity.

The first celeb on the list is professional snowboarder Shaun White, who will be playing Destiny in March. Future celeb participates will include Snoop Dogg, NBA player Stephen Curry, and LA Dodgers outfielder Yasiel Puig. Sony has promised that “at least” 90% of the purchase will be donated to one of the aforementioned charities.

PS4 Owners can download the The PlayStation Heroes app from the PlayStation Store on February 24th. Users can also pre-order the app today, which will grant them exclusive early access to themes, ranging from $1, $5, $10 and $15. Each of these purchases will enter the buyer into the first contest in March. To know more about the initiative and how it works, you can check out this video below:
