The titular hero of the Yacht Club Game’s smash-hit game, the Shovel Knight, will be a playable character in Road Rash’s spiritual successor Road Redemption. Dark Seas Games, the developers of Road Redemption have teamed up with the Shovel Knight’s studio to bring the titular character into the Road Rash clone.
Both these games were Kickstarter, where Shovel Knight made over $311,000 while Road Redemption's tally fell just under $174,000. Road Redemption developer, DarkSeas Game’s Ian Fisch said that,
Shovel Knight is basically Road Redemption's version of The Terminator, He's this plate-armored unstoppable juggernaut, and it's great to have the opportunity to include him in our game.
Nick Wozniack of Yacht Club Games added that,
This incarnation of our stalwart, blue hero could not have us more excited and I can't wait until he crosses the generational gap from pixels to glorious polygons in Road Redemption.
Shovel Knight arrives on his own custom chopper bike and with a shovel in his hand. Road Redemption is currently available on PC via Steam Early Access with PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, Mac and Linux versions expected to arrive in Q3 2015.
