Spawn may appear as a guest fighter in Mortal Kombat X

One character that would seem like a perfect fit for the series that many have wanted as a guest fighter for years is that of Spawn, which it now sounds like really could be a possibility for Mortal Kombat X.

NetherRealms Studios highly anticipated Mortal Kombat X is all set to release in April and series creator, Ed Boon, has been busy revealing new teasers and trailers of the veteran fighters to commemorate the game’s impending release. But the game may get another new guest fighter, one which many fans feel would be a perfect fit for the game.

In a recent interview with GamerfitNation.com, Spawn creator Todd McFarlene spoke about new toys and upcoming movies based on his beloved character. When asked about the possibility of Spawn’s inclusion in games like Mortal Kombat X and Injustice Gods Among Us, McFarlane stated that there is a ‘short deal’ with Warner Bros. which could place his character in these games.

"That means that they have access to be able to use the character in a couple of their games, if they want to," McFarlane explained. "Again, it's up to their discretion. I gave them a window of time, so I’ll just leave it to them to do what it is that they want. Eventually, they’ll phone me and they’ll go, ‘Hey, we want to use him here. Is that OK?’ Well, technically, it’s OK because we’ve already said yes. They just are letting us know."

McFarlane did add that the ball is now in NetherRealm’s court, and it is their decision if Spawn gets added or not. So while there is a chance that we might see Spawn as a new guest fighter in Mortal Kombat X, theres also a chance that the developers might not use him at all.

"Well, I don’t know if they’re ever going to use him," McFarlane stated. "They just might squat. They might squat on him."

This certainly will not be Spawns first appearance in a fighting game. The devilish character has also been featured in the Xbox Version of Soul Calibur II. Mortal Kombat X is slated to release on April 14th for the PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
