The Journey Season 2 in FIFA 18 to be bigger and better

The Journey Season 2 promises to be more exciting

What’s the story?

FIFA 18 will have the popular “The Journey” back this year for a new season. EA’s decision to introduce The Journey in FIFA 17 proved to be a massive hit as it became the top-selling console game of 2016. FIFA 17 is also on course to become Electronic Arts’ best-selling FIFA game of all time.

Building on the success of FIFA 17 which has much to do with the introduction of The Journey series, the publishers have decided to bring a new and improved version of the game mode.

The context

The Journey is a game mode where we can guide a fictional player from promising beginnings to international stardom with the biggest of clubs. Alex Hunter is the protagonist of The Journey in FIFA 17, where the console player must lead his career from the Under-11s to the absolute elite of the Premier League.

The heart of the matter

With The Journey slated to return with new characters and new storylines, FIFA 18 promises to be another must-have console game. There will be more than one Alex Hunter to play as in The Journey Season 2, and for those who have been bored of playing the Hunter story over and over again, they will have newer plots to explore and more narratives in the new season.

One such narrative could be the protagonist going off the rails because of early stardom before making a stunning comeback to resurrect his career and reach the heights of the game.

What’s next?

The CEO of Electronic Arts, Andrew Wilson, hinted at the bigger and better things to come our way with FIFA 18 later this year: “FIFA 18 will build on the foundation we created with story mode this year, bringing players back to The Journey with Season 2, featuring new characters and new storylines. Our development team in Vancouver is delivering deeply innovative new experiences across this year’s game, including an Ultimate Team, and creating the most emotionally immersive and connected FIFA we have ever produced.

Author’s take

The FIFA console game series has gone from strength to strength with each passing year and 2018 promises to be no different. With new and intriguing narratives to be part of The Journey in FIFA 18, there will be no shortage of people who will loosen their purse strings on the day of the game’s release.
