The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt file size revealed

Geralt from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

While The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt game looks extremely stunning, it is very(and unsurprisingly) unforgiving when it comes to its system requirements. This is kind of expected in modern AAA titles, especially if you want the game to look as good as it appears in trailers. The game is also one of the most anticipated titles of the year, which was originally slated to release in 2014, but was delayed to early 2015 and then again until May. The long delay has given players enough time to update their specs, and looks like they’re going to require it going by the recently revealed game file size.

Developers CD Projekt RED were busy with the games development, and therefore could not reveal the file size just yet. But a foreign PlayStation Store listed the games total file size as 50 GB for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. CD Projekt then confirmed this information via GameSpot.

This not a huge surprise as the original system requirements for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt revealed the file size to be somewhere around 40 GB. Even titles like The Last of Us Remastered and Assassin’s Creed: Unity had some pretty demanding storage requirements.

But the huge file size is kind of expected, as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is going to be a pretty massive game, something the developers have mentioned for a while now. The games map will be about 35 times larger than its predecessor and 20% bigger than the world of Skyrim. So players who own the default 500 GB HDD in the PS4 and Xbox One may want to consider getting a larger external or internal HDD to support the game.

The Witcher 3 is slated to release on May 19th for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
