What's the story?

FIFA 18 is mere days away from its release and the news surrounding it is helping build the hype. From players unhappy with their rating to technical glitches, this game has it all. With FIFA's Ultimate team option, gamers can build their own team with the best players. Now, a Youtuber has achieved something that would probably never have happened in real life, He has successfully bought Cristiano Ronaldo and signed him for the Barcelona team.

In case you didn't know...

Signing a player of Ronaldo's calibre into a team like Barcelona to play alongside rival Messi is unheard of but this Youtuber managed to pull off the Herculean task.

The heart of the matter

The Portuguese star wasn't cheap though, he was signed for a very hefty sum and was exchanged for another Barcelona player Gerard Deulofeu. In the video, your manager avatar will meet the concerned club's manager (Zinedine Zidane) and began the negotiations. The gamer, going by the name RBT offered the former French striker a player swap deal involving Deulofeu – who is valued at £27.5m – in exchange for four-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo; who is valued much higher at £84m.

In normal circumstances, Zidane would refuse the offer to part with the star player. But this time, he counter-offered a player exchange as well as cash for Ronaldo. A cash sum of £141.85m as well as securing the services of the former Everton winger, to which RBT counters with an offer of £120m plus Deulofeu which is agreed.

What's next?

However, the matter did not end there, RBT now had the task of convincing the winger to join Real Madrid's biggest rivals as well as offer him a contract. He was given a ‘crucial role’ in the squad which both the player and the agent agree too. The Portugal captain’s agent then demands that a £237.8m release cause is put in the 32-year-old’s contract in case another club show interest. In terms of wages, Ronaldo was surprisingly content with taking a pay cut. In the end, the virtual pen was put on virtual paper and Cristiano was successfully drafted in as a Barcelona player.

Author's take

Who would have thought that it would be that 'easy' to sign one of the world's biggest players to play for his biggest rivals? Okay so it wasn't THAT easy but when it actually came down to it, the deal was done. Now, I wonder how it would be if Messi was drafted into Real Madrid, Wouldn't you?
