The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Second playable character revealed

Ciri is the second playable character in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

CD Projekt Red has revealed that Ciri, is the second playable character in the upcoming game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Ciri is a descendent in a long-lost Elven-blood lineage and will play an important role in the series lore. She is a talented swordfighter, possesses great speed and agility, can "blink," and will unlock several unique abilities over the course of the game.

The game developers have also confirmed that you won't be able to switch between her and Geralt, but you’ll assume control of her at certain parts of the story. These moments will be turn out to be very significant.

CD Projekt Red’s Robert Malinowski described her character as,

A descendant in a long-lost Elven-blood lineage, Ciri plays an important role in the Witcher lore—a powerful, living weapon capable of both healing and destroying the world she inhabits,

Ciri is playable only during certain moments in the game – we introduce her to give gamers another perspective in the story to make it even more engaging,

You won’t play as her for long periods of time, but since she’s crucial to the plot, we thought that additional insight will allow gamers to better bond with this cool character.

He also explained that,

She’s a living weapon… and everyone wants to control her. This, plus she also has her own will and agenda, so it’s not just finding her that counts. I think that is the most important aspect of this character. Geralt knows Ciri since she was a child. She’s Geralt’s apprentice and they have a close emotional bond – he trained her so she could become a witcheress.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is now set for launch on May 19, 2015 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. A glimpse of Ciri and her Blink ability can be seen in the Elder Blood trailer below:
