What's the story?

Abhinav Bindra lashed out at the Indian Olympic Association on Twitter criticising the sporting body's committee culture after the first meeting of the Olympic Task Force.

In case you didn't know...

Abhinav Bindra is the lone individual gold medal winner in the Summer Olympics for India. He won the coveted medal in the 10m Air rifle event at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Abhinav Bindra was the National Observer for Shooting and Target Olympic Podium Identification Committee chairman and resigned from the two positions due to conflict of interest.

The heart of the matter

Abhinav Bindra posted on Twitter a response to Indian Olympic Association's Vice President Sudhanshu Mittal's tweet about the first meeting of the Olympic Task Force held in New Delhi.

Abhinav Bindra has always been outspoken over matters in Indian sports and this comment highlights the ineffectiveness of the IOA in getting the major work done in the true sense. The motives of the Olympic Task Force should be completed by hiring experts of the sport rather than creating committees, according to the retired professional shooter.

Abhinav Bindra's criticism of the Olympic Task Force's meeting comes after he resigned from the TOP committee. He has started Abhinav Bindra Targeting Performance, which provides medical fitness and performance facilities to Indian athletes across different sports.

What's next?

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA)'s Olympic Task Force committee will provide the recommendations necessary for India to get ready in a better way for the next Olympic Games.

Author's take

Abhinav Bindra is a highly respected athlete in Indian Sports and his experience with the administration must have prompted him to speak out against the 'committee culture' of the IOA which sometimes are just an organizational formality rather than doing actual work for the betterment of sport in the country.
