Angola beats Mozambique in Afrobasket women's final

Maputo (Mozambique) - Angola on Sunday defeated Mozambique 64-61 to retain its championship title of 2013 Africa Women’s Basketball Championship.

As the top two, Angola and Mozambique have also qualified for the 2014 Women’s World FIBA Championship in Turkey, Xinhua reported. Angola was the champion of the African tournament in 2011.

During Sunday’s match in Mozambican capital Maputo, the two sides went neck and neck up to the end of the game with the score standing at 54-54. However, the Angolans managed to lead until the last whistle, beating Mozambique 64-61.

This year’s tournament, which runs from Sept. 22 to Sept. 29 involves 12 countries, including the best ones, such as Cameroon, Senegal, Nigeria, Cote d’Ivoire and the DR. Congo.
