Cyclone Hudhud fails to defeat the spirit of Athlos 2014

Athlos 6.0 ended on a high note despite Hudhud scare

Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) successfully completed its three day Annual Sports meet – Athlos 2014 on 12th of October. Though the sixth edition of this mega sports event was affected by bad weather condition due to cyclone Hudhud, the event witnessed great enthusiasm from players of various colleges in true athletic spirit.

After a great start on Day 1 with X-Enable, Day 2 kicked off with an exciting football match between the students of XIMB and IMI, Bhubaneswar. Sanjeeban from the XIMB team led XIMB to a 6-0 win with two stunning goals. The football series ended with a very interesting final between the XIMB students and the XIMB Alumni which closed on a tie calling for a penalty shootout. The XIMB Alumni team finally bagged the winning spot with the score line 5-3 in the penalty shootout.

The next in series were cricket and volleyball. The cricket match had to be suspended due to the rains but the volleyball event saw great team spirit and zeal in the match between XIMB and IMI, Bhubaneswar, which XIMB went on to win in the end. The XIMB team went on to clinch the volleyball title with beating other teams in the process.

Among the indoor games, the badminton men’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s singles matches were played between XIMB, BIMTech and XIMB Alumni. There was great encouragement and support for both sides with the crowd cheering constantly.
